A basic personal document is required to be obtained and, if necessary, changed by all citizens over a certain age without exception. It is not made in one day, and officials will never give an exact date when it can be picked up. Therefore, there is often a need to check the readiness of the passport. Especially if time is running out, and without it a citizen cannot exercise his rights. Checking your passport for readiness is not difficult, and there are several free ways.
Briefly about the Russian passport
A passport is considered the main document for absolutely all citizens, since it is the one that primarily proves identity. All Russians who have reached the age of 14 and live in Russia must have it.
The status of the passport is fixed by Government Decree No. 828 of 07/08/97, which provides a detailed description and features of filling out the form.
When contacting almost every government agency, financial institution, utility office and other organizations, you must present your passport. Other identification documents are not always able to replace it.
Issuance and replacement are carried out by the authorities responsible for the migration sphere of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) at the place of residence or stay of the citizen.
Multifunctional centers (MFCs) have the right to accept documents, and you can submit an online application on the State Services portal or on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
You can contact any migration department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or MFC, even not in your city. The applicant must:
- provide a package of documents;
- pay the state fee;
- apply.
You can now take a photo directly at the Ministry of Internal Affairs department.
While the passport is not ready, it is possible to use a temporary certificate, which is issued at the request of the applicant at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Russian Federation Citizen Passport
A Russian is required to have an identity card upon reaching the age of 14, 20, 45 years. The certificate must be received no later than 30 days after each of the specified age categories.
To obtain a Russian Federation citizen certificate, the following documents are required:
- Application form 1P.
- Birth certificate.
Where is it possible to obtain a Russian passport?
These documents must be delivered to the FMS office at your place of residence or temporary registration. After accepting and checking all the papers, the service employee is obliged to provide information about the readiness of the certificate.
If necessary, a temporary identity card can be issued (for a maximum of 2 months).
- 10 days, if a citizen of the Russian Federation applied to the FMS department for registration, on time, without delay.
- 2 months if the applicant changes the document due to loss or theft, also if the application is submitted to the FMS office not at the place of residence.
When will the passport be ready?
Registration and replacement of passports is a public service, the regulations of which are determined by Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs No. 851 of November 13, 2017. In Art. 27 of this document indicates temporary standards for the implementation of services after the documents are received.
The production time is directly affected by the place of circulation, and there are two deadlines.
In the simplest version, when a citizen applies for issuance/replacement at the place of residence, the maximum period does not exceed 10 days. If the document is issued in another city or even country, it will take a month.
Legal basis
Everything related to the receipt, proper maintenance and replacement of a passport, as well as liability for violations of the passport regime, is regulated by legislative acts of the government of the Russian Federation.
In what cases is it possible to apply for a new passport?
The following situations are provided: 1. Receiving a new document:
- when the teenager turns 14 years old;
- when granting Russian citizenship;
- when your passport is lost or stolen.
2. Replacement of ID:
- at the age of 20 or 45 years;
- in case of a change in appearance;
- as a result of gender reassignment;
- due to damage to the passport;
- when erroneous or inaccurate entries are discovered.
Regardless of your situation, you can easily check if your passport is ready. Upon reaching the age of 14 years, when a passport is issued for the first time, as well as at the ages of 20 and 45 years, when a passport is changed, you must apply within 30 days after the corresponding birthday. Failure to comply with this deadline will result in penalties. In other cases - when the need arises.
Ways to check the readiness of a passport
The complexity of passport production does not allow tracking all stages of the process. The recipient can only receive notification that it is ready for delivery.
You can inquire about the readiness of the document:
- in person at the migration department or MFC;
- by phone;
- using the Internet;
- in some cases via SMS.
Personal visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs department
Going to the Ministry of Internal Affairs office, where an employee accepted a set of documents and an application, is the most reliable way to find out about the readiness of your identity card.
If you wait until the end of the period provided for by the regulations, your passport can probably be collected immediately on the spot. If not, the employee will tell you when to come again.
Phone call
After receiving the set of certificates, an employee of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is obliged to inform the applicant about the approximate deadlines for readiness and provide contact information for communication. No one will name the exact date in advance, but after the specified time has passed, it’s easy to find out by phone whether it’s time to go get your passport.
According to Article 15 of the regulations, if an employee cannot independently answer a request, he must forward the call to another employee or call an additional number by which the citizen will receive the information he is interested in.
The duration of the telephone conversation should not exceed 10 minutes.
In the same way, you can find out when your passport will be ready at the MFC.
Via SMS
Although checking readiness using SMS from the Ministry of Internal Affairs is theoretically possible, in fact this service is not currently provided.
As for the MFC, many branches of Moscow, St. Petersburg and other regions use this notification option, but the availability of this feature should be checked with local operators.
Through the Internet
The easiest way to see if your passport is ready is via the Internet. If the applicant applied through the MFC, the application number indicated in the document acceptance statement will be required.
To check the readiness of your passport, you need to:
- Go to the regional center website.
- Select the “Check document readiness” section.
- Lead the number.
- Activate the check button.
Information is provided free of charge. If there is no data, the visitor will be redirected to a hotline number.
It is not yet possible to check the readiness of a civil passport on the Ministry of Internal Affairs website. There is only a service for checking foreign documents.
But this is easy to do on the State Services website if the application was sent through the portal. To check you need to have a verified account. The telephone number and email address entered during registration allow you to always be aware of events. Notification of readiness is sent to your personal account.
Foreign passport of the Russian Federation
This type of certificate is confirmation of Russian citizenship outside its territory. It allows you to leave your home country, as well as cross the borders of other states.
Today there are 2 types of passports:
- Biometric - issued for 10 years, has an electronic medium with the owner’s personal information.
- Old-style certificate - issued for 5 years.
You can apply for a foreign passport through the government services portal, or you can do this through the FMS office at your place of registration.
To obtain a Russian passport, the following documents are required:
A biometric passport for an adult will cost 3500, for a child 1500. An old-style document will cost 2000 and 1000, respectively.
It is important for citizens applying for a biometric version to know that they will be photographed and biometric data taken at the FMS office.
Waiting period
- 1 month - application to the Federal Migration Service at your place of residence.
- 4 months - not at the place of registration.
- 3 months - provided that the citizen submitting the application has access to classified information of the Russian Federation.
How to find out if your passport is ready
In addition to the two above-mentioned simple methods of obtaining documents, there are a couple of more modern ones.
You can check the readiness of a foreign passport of the Russian Federation in the following ways:
- Electronic site https://guvm.mvd.rf/services/passport By visiting this site, you can find out about the readiness of your international passport. To do this, you need the data of a general civil identity document. Having received the series and number of the certificate, the system sends a request to the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation to provide information about the readiness of the passport.
- Portal https://www.gosuslugi.ru/ To obtain data on readiness, an adult citizen should register on this portal before submitting an application, indicating his phone number and email. It is at these coordinates that information about the readiness of the requested document will be sent. This information can also be tracked in your personal account created on this portal.
Modern government services are expanding their boundaries and becoming more accessible to Russian citizens. Modern technologies facilitate interaction between people and government agencies, which is good news. It is especially pleasant that the preparation of such important documents has now become faster and easier, thanks to the Internet, as well as special services.
What is needed for verification
At the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the readiness of the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation is checked only after the standard identification card is presented in such cases. The last name, first name and patronymic must not only be stated, but also confirmed.
To do this, you must show one of the documents:
- temporary certificate (if issued);
- international passport;
- birth certificate;
- military ID.
If you still have your old passport, you can present it. Based on the number and series, employees will quickly determine the status of the document.
The MFC must provide notification of receipt of documents and a telephone number.
There is no need to confirm anything on the State Services website if the visitor has an account.
How to find out about readiness
The approximate date when the document will be issued is communicated to the applicant on the spot after submitting the application. This is not a final decision, but only an approximate indication of the timing, and you will have to find out whether it is ready yourself.
There are several ways to do this.
State Services website
If you have registered on the website Gosuslugi.ru - hurray! The easiest way to find out the readiness of a Russian citizen’s passport online is available to you. Unfortunately, it is only suitable for those who submitted an application for it on the government services portal.
The notification will be sent to your personal account in the application or to an email address if it is specified in the user profile. It also contains a list of necessary papers that should be brought to the department along with photographs when a message appears that you are expected. There they will examine the papers and tell you when to pick up the “red book”. It is issued only upon personal visit. So you will have to come to the department twice.
But this method only works for replacement, and upon initial receipt it is impossible to monitor the production on the government services portal.
Alternative ways to track the readiness of a foreign passport
The processing time for a foreign passport may increase for various reasons.
In order not to waste time and not visit the territorial office of the Migration Service, you can use one of the convenient methods. If it is not possible to track your Ukrainian passport online for readiness, you can:
- Call the Migration Service office, give your name and get an answer.
- Send your request to your local office by email. The downside of this method is that you will have to wait at least a day for a response. The required address can be found on the Migration Service website in the “Services” tab.
Checking readiness for Russian citizenship online
At one time, a service for checking citizenship readiness operated on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. It was enough to simply indicate the region of registration, last name, first name, patronymic, passport details, after which the service would issue an answer whether the application had been approved or not yet.
At the moment, it is not possible to check your citizenship readiness online! The website of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs does not provide such a service![
other resources through which you could check online . Therefore, to find out the answer, the methods described above remain: waiting for a letter and personally visiting the migration department.
