As the Ukrainian publication Vesti reported, recently in the Hungarian village of Hajdudoroga, bordering Ukraine, the police detained representatives of local authorities who illegally issued Hungarian passports to Ukrainians. At the same time, the police also detained the Ukrainians themselves - holders of new documents.
The operation was carried out by special forces sent from Budapest. Village residents confirmed that Ukrainians actually lived illegally in some houses, and about 40 Ukrainian citizens were allegedly fictitiously registered in one of them.
“Recently, more and more Ukrainians are registered in border villages, then they receive fake passports. When they found out about this in Budapshet, they decided to conduct raids against the deceivers and the Hungarians who are helping them for “gratitude,” said Hungarian journalist Laszlo Pinter.
According to the publication, those Ukrainians who do not have legal grounds to obtain a passport of a European country, as a rule, solve the problem through bribes to officials or through intermediaries on the Internet. This service costs from five to 10 thousand euros. For this amount, intermediaries issue false certificates and resolve issues with the consulate.

And I don’t see anything bad or sabotage in this,” the Ukrainian edition of the BBC quotes the deputy editor-in-chief of the Transcarpathian regional newspaper “Karpat Igoz So”, published in Hungarian, Yuri Dunda.
It is also worth recalling that in Kyiv, the issuance of Hungarian passports under a simplified procedure is already perceived as a threat, especially against the backdrop of Budapest’s tough and irreconcilable position on the Ukrainian education law, which narrows the rights of Hungarians to study in their native language. So, in March last year, Poroshenko registered in parliament amendments to laws that would allow depriving residents of the country of Ukrainian citizenship who have a second foreign passport, but this law has not yet been considered, and dual citizenship faces only a small fine. However, this does not apply to Transcarpathian officials who have a Hungarian passport - regional governor Gennady Moskal introduced personal repressions against them: first he called on regional leaders with a second citizenship to voluntarily give up their positions, and then achieved the dismissal of several officials with the rank of deputy heads of district and city administrations.
