  • A visitor is required to reside in the country in total as a temporary residence permit for at least 6 months a year, and also after the first and second year to register with the migration services, notifying them of his stay in the Russian Federation. If this does not happen, the resident loses his status, which will allow him to acquire a new one no earlier than in 1 year.

Application for temporary residence permit

Duration of consideration of documents and cost of temporary residence permit

An application for a quota is considered from several months to one year, depending on the workload of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the circumstances of whether the migrant arrived on a visa or not.

Migrants' applications for permission are considered for 2 months for applicants from countries that do not require a visa, and 6 months for citizens from visa-providing countries for the Russian Federation.

The state fee for considering an application for a temporary residence permit is 1,600 rubles. The receipt is generated on the website of the Main Department of Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or received by personal appearance at the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the place where the temporary residence permit is issued. There is no need to pay to receive a quota.

What is a quota for temporary residence permits?

A stateless person

As a rule, foreigners moving to the Russian Federation try to find a stable job for themselves, according to their profession, with more or less solid earnings. However, the Russian authorities, in order not to create high competition for indigenous residents, artificially limit the flow of migrants by introducing quotas in each region.

Thus, any applicant for a temporary residence permit who plans to work for a long time in the country will inevitably come across a long queue, since the number of allocated quotas falls every year, and if 130,000 temporary temporary residence permits were issued in 2021, then their limit for 2021 was only 110,000 units. Moreover, of these, only 4,000 are in Moscow, and 8,000 are in the Moscow region.

Important! With the onset of a situation when all quotas have been exhausted, the remaining applicants automatically take a turn for the next year, which creates even greater excitement, and so from year to year the snowball effect increasingly reduces the chances of new candidates for this status.

Registration

The term “propiska”, familiar to Russians, is appropriate when it comes to the specifics of registering foreigners at their place of residence. This registration is considered permanent, but the maximum period of its validity will directly depend on the document. We can say that this type of “registration” has a certain “temporary” character. Despite the general similarity of the procedure with the activities carried out when applying from citizens of the Russian Federation, the requirements for the package of documents for foreigners may differ.

  • Passing a medical examination with the issuance of certificates at an accredited institution - 2.5 - 3.0 thousand rubles.
