In this regard, many want to understand how an H2 visa to South Korea is issued for Russians in 2021 and why it is needed.
South Korea visa application form
What is its meaning
The H visa is a work visa. Today, South Korea is a fairly developed state, characterized by a strong economy, many progressive innovations, and the presence of a wide variety of areas involved in the promotion of scientific progress.
In this regard, obtaining a work visa to this country in the vast majority of cases is available only to those professional specialists who are highly qualified, have long-term practical experience, as well as a wealth of knowledge that is in demand in the state.
In addition, employment in South Korea is often provided to competent managers of certain narrow areas of activity.
Do not forget that vacant positions in this country are in the majority of cases occupied by their own candidates, but if an employer from Korea shows a desire to hire a foreign citizen, he will be given such an opportunity.
It is worth noting that a work visa is issued not only on the basis of an official invitation issued by an employer in the territory of this state, but also simply by submitting an application to a diplomatic mission. Of course, this option is somewhat more complicated, but if desired, it can still be implemented.
In addition, H visas are available to students who wish to study in South Korea. On the official website of the diplomatic mission you will find a complete list of universities that are granted the right to admit students from other countries to various courses.
Special attention should be paid to the fact that Russians planning to visit South Korea as tourists or as a private visit may not apply for a visa if their stay on the territory of this state is short.
Thus, South Korea has introduced a visa-free regime for Russian citizens, when, in the process of crossing the border, a person’s foreign identity card is simply inserted with the corresponding passport. If a person plans to stay in the country for a long time, he will need to obtain a visa in Russia in advance by contacting the diplomatic mission of that country.
Do not forget that North and South Korea are two different states that are currently in a state of military conflict, and visa legislation in these countries is significantly different from each other.
It is quite difficult to get into North Korea, and if it is possible, then quite strict restrictions will be imposed on the movement of a foreigner. In the DPRK you also need to apply for a visa, and getting one is much more difficult.

After that, depending on which applicant has a residence status in Russia, an additional list of documents may also be required. The following documents may also be required:
- An extract made from documentary records of family relationships or a notarized copy of the registration book of deceased persons or those who have lost Korean citizenship. This document is required for those persons whose birth was recorded in the register of family relations, the register of the dead or the list of persons who have lost citizenship.

A person's belonging to a certain generation can be confirmed by the birth certificate of the applicant or one of his relatives, depending on which generation the person is Korean. In particular, the birth certificate of the applicant's parents and grandparents may be required.
Comparison with other types
H2 is a multiple-entry visitor visa that allows a citizen to work in South Korea for no more than three years. This permit does not allow working in offices or conducting business activities, and is issued to those individuals who are at least a quarter Korean and over the age of 25.
Starting from May 20, 2013, this visa cannot be issued to persons who do not have any citizenship at the time of submitting documents to the diplomatic mission.
Citizens of other countries can apply for an H2 visa if they have a residence permit in Uzbekistan or registration valid for more than one year.
Design features
In order to obtain a long-term visa permit, the applicant will need to provide confirmation that he has a guarantor in South Korea.
As such, in accordance with established rules, a certain employing company can act as such if a person is applying for a work visa, or a private individual if he wants to visit a close relative. In this case, the guarantor must be a resident or full citizen of South Korea.
The guarantor will need to contact the territorial division of the immigration service with the appropriate petition, after which the applicant himself will be able to contact the diplomatic mission located in Moscow or one of the other large cities.
Cost and terms
Any visa to South Korea is distinguished by its validity period, after which a person is given the opportunity to renew the existing document or leave the territory of this state. Depending on the purpose for which a person intends to travel to this country, the validity period of the permit issued to him can range from three months to two years.
It will be possible to renew the document without leaving the territory of South Korea, since it is enough to simply contact the nearest immigration office.
The cost of registration will also depend on what kind of visa a person wants to receive. If he requires a single-entry long-term visa of the H2 category, he will need to pay $90 for it, while for a multiple long-term permit the cost will already be $120.
Standard Requirements
The list of requirements that must be met when applying for a visa is quite strict and must be followed, since otherwise the person will simply be denied this permission, and it is quite difficult to obtain it again.
Who is eligible for this type
The F-4 visa was introduced to simplify the procedure for visiting this state for ethnic Koreans who do not have an official invitation.
This document is also provided to citizens who have received a full education in this state, after which they have worked for at least six months. It is important to take into account the fact that a person must work in his specialty.
In addition, this category of visa can be provided to citizens who are distinguished by a high degree of professionalism in a certain field, and therefore may be extremely in demand in any Korean companies, if they have not previously violated the visa regime.
There are no quotas for obtaining this visa, and there are also no age restrictions.
General entry rules
At border control, a citizen will be required to provide the following list of documents:
- a foreign identity card valid for at least six months at the time of entry;
- migration card filled with all necessary information;

All adults at airports or seaports must undergo facial photography and fingerprinting using specialized equipment.
In accordance with the established rules, if you do not have biometrics, you will not be able to visit the territory of South Korea.
The migration card must be filled out while still on board the transport on which the citizen is traveling.
In this case, information from the first page of the foreign ID card, the address of residence in Korea, the duration of the planned trip, and the presence or absence of children are indicated.

The citizen is asked whether he plans to take with him:
- goods for sale;
- plants or animals;

Differences in H2 visa status for South Korea
Obtaining an H2 visa is much easier compared to an F-4, and this concerns both the list of required documents and the time required to carry out all activities. In particular, it is worth noting the fact that not all representatives of the Korean nation are able to obtain an F-4 visa.
F-4 allows its holder to conduct business and engage in office work, but such a document is provided only to ethnic representatives who have graduated from a university in South Korea and have worked for more than six months in their specialty.
If we talk about the disadvantages of the H2 visa, we can highlight that a person with such a permit can engage exclusively in physical labor, and a visa can only be issued to those who have already reached the age of 25 years.
Changes in status from H-2 to F-4

- Photo 3x4
- Cash contribution (to be clarified)
