A residence permit is a document by which a foreign citizen receives the right to reside in Russia. This document is the first step towards obtaining a Russian passport. It is a booklet giving the right to live and work on the territory of the Russian Federation. Having received a residence permit, a migrant has the right:

A residence permit is issued on the basis of filing an application for a residence permit (Forms 3,4,5) to the territorial departments of the Federal Migration Service. The data for filling out paragraphs 1-16 should be duplicated from a valid foreign passport. Filling in is carried out in capital Latin letters. In paragraph 16, the place of issue of the international passport should be transliterated from Russian to Latin.

Citizens permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation indicate in paragraph 18 the name of the country of residence and details of a residence permit or other identification document. Certificate of employment is a document on the basis of which item 19 is filled out. For three categories of citizens, the following formats for filling out item are used:

students – STUDENT;
pensioners – RETIRED;
unemployed – UNEMPLOYED.

Place of work (clause 20) should be transliterated into Latin, using abbreviations and abbreviations: LLC - OOO, ZAO - ZAO, etc.

When indicating the purpose of the trip (clause 21), three standard forms must be used:

business;
tourist;
visit by invitation.

The place of residence (clause 22) to be indicated in the application form should be the locality in which the applicant plans to spend the greatest amount of time. If your travel plan includes several host countries, only one locality should be indicated in the application form. If there is no data on the exact address of the place of stay, only the name of the locality and type of housing should be indicated in the questionnaire.

In paragraph 24 you should indicate the type of visa.

The applicant has the right to submit an application for both a single and multiple-entry visa. When submitting documents for the first time, obtaining a multiple visa in most Schengen countries is almost impossible.

Paragraphs 25-26, 29-30 indicate:

planned dates of entry and exit;
last day of validity of the previous visa (if any);
day of border crossing upon arrival (including by air);
date of departure from the airport or border crossing on the day of departure.

Paragraph 27 obliges the applicant to provide information about the fingerprinting procedure using the words “yes/no”. If the country that is the final destination of the trip is located outside the Schengen zone (clause 28), you should indicate the details of the previously obtained visa to visit the destination country.

The details of the persons who issued an invitation to visit (clause 31) are filled in in accordance with their identity cards. If there is no invitation, the data of all hotels where accommodation is planned is entered in the paragraph. If the trip is of a business nature (clause 32), the details of the company that issued the invitation to the applicant are entered in the item field.

Clause 33 is financial in nature. In it, the person filling out the form must indicate the origin of the funds that will be used to pay expenses for travel, stay and accommodation in the countries of the Schengen area. For minor citizens of the Russian Federation, the sponsor is a parent (parents); for non-working citizens, the sponsor is the inviter or another person.

Points 34 and 35 are filled out by applicants who arrive in a Schengen country to visit close relatives who are citizens of EU countries. The last two points of the questionnaire (36 and 37) are for informational purposes only:

place and date of application submission;
personal signature of the applicant.

If the application is submitted by a minor citizen of the Russian Federation who is under 14 years of age, one of his parents must sign. If the applicant is 14-18 years old, the document, in addition to the parent, must also be signed by him.

It is advisable to do this with a pencil, without putting too much pressure on the back side of the photo.

The photograph on the application form must comply with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) requirements. It measures 3.5x4.5 cm, this is a passport format. The photograph is taken on high-quality and high-contrast photographic paper, printed on industrial photo printing equipment. The image of the applicant occupies at least 70% of the total area on the visa photograph. The color of his clothing should in no case blend in with the background of the photo, which can be white, light blue or light beige. It is prohibited to be photographed wearing glasses with tinted lenses and wearing hats (except for applicants who wear it for religious reasons - an example would be women of the Islamic faith, Jews). It is also desirable that the frames of the glasses are as narrow as possible and do not cover a significant part of the eyes.
