How to get a residence permit yourself

In order to reside in Uzbekistan, all foreign citizens in 2021 are required to obtain a residence permit. Also, such permission is required for those who are a native of the republic, but after the collapse of the USSR lost their citizenship and are not currently citizens of any country. In addition, a residence permit is needed for former citizens of Uzbekistan who renounced citizenship of the country voluntarily, in accordance with the law, and for those who for some reason lost it.

Stateless persons must apply for and receive permission to reside in Uzbekistan as soon as they turn 16 years old. All other citizens of other countries need to submit an application and documents for a residence permit immediately upon arrival in the country if they intend to live here for more than two months.

The validity period of an Uzbek residence permit is 5 years. If a foreign citizen is over 60 years old, the document is issued for an indefinite period.

A residence permit in the Republic of Uzbekistan is issued:

• foreign citizens or stateless persons who have reached the age of 16;
• persons recognized in the manner prescribed by law as having lost citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
• persons who have renounced citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in accordance with the procedure established by law.

A residence permit is issued for a period of five years. To obtain a residence permit, the following documents are submitted to the internal affairs authorities at the place of permanent residence:

1. application in the form established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
2. valid national passport;
3. birth certificate (when received for the first time);
4. previously obtained residence permit;
5. 5 photographs measuring 35x45 mm, black and white or color;
6. certificate from place of residence indicating family members;
7. marriage certificate (if you are in a registered marriage).

Documents for obtaining a residence permit

In order to obtain a residence permit for this country, you must submit to the department of internal affairs (at the location of the foreign citizen and his residence in Uzbekistan), an application (the form of which will be provided at the place of application along with a sample), as well as additional documents:

Necessary documents for obtaining permanent residence in Uzbekistan

1. Application form in two copies;
2. Applications from citizens with whom the foreigner will reside;
3. Copies of documents about marriage, birth of children;
4. Receipt for payment of state duty;
5. 2 photos.

The period for reviewing documents is within one month.

To obtain a residence permit, you do not need to be married to a citizen of Uzbekistan; it is enough to come to this state and start working or doing business. Preparation of the necessary documents is not as complicated and time-consuming as it seems at first glance.

It should also be mentioned that the acquisition of real estate on the territory of Uzbekistan does not give a foreigner the right to permanent residence. More precisely, a foreigner can purchase real estate only when he already has a residence permit in this state.

Application processing time and consular fee cost

The application is submitted to the Uzbek president, it indicates the reason for coming to the country and the reasons for issuing a residence permit to the foreigner. You will also need to pay a consular fee, which will be about $40. The application is reviewed within two weeks, and processing takes up to one year.

After which, a form is issued with the recipient’s photograph, security seals and holograms. For a foreign citizen, the document contains 16 pages, and for stateless persons - 10. How to obtain a residence permit in Uzbekistan for a Russian citizen in 2021

A residence permit in Uzbekistan is a document giving foreign citizens the right to legally reside in the territory of the republic.

A residence permit in Uzbekistan can be obtained by:

• foreigners who although permanently reside in the state;
• stateless persons over 16 years of age living permanently in Uzbekistan;
• citizens who previously received a residence permit;
• persons with residence permits whose Uzbek citizenship was previously terminated;
• foreign citizens who returned to Uzbekistan for permanent residence, having previously renounced Uzbek citizenship;
• persons permanently residing on the territory of the Republic who have not accepted citizenship of Uzbekistan or have renounced it.

Important! The main requirement for obtaining a residence permit is legal residence in the country at the time of submission of the application.

To obtain a residence permit you must submit:

• Russian passport;
• 2 copies of the questionnaire;
• notarial statements from the receiving party, with whom the foreigner plans to reside permanently, about their attitude to the applicant’s application;
• passport and document confirming the ownership of the host’s housing
• duty payment receipt;
• 2 black and white or color photographs on a white background, size 35x45 mm

When applying for a residence permit, a receipt with a list of documents is issued and in case of refusal, the foreigner will have to leave the country.

The period for reviewing documents is no more than 15 days. Then a decision is made.

A residence permit for foreigners is issued for a period of 5 years, but not longer than the validity period of a foreign passport; upon reaching 60 years of age - for the entire validity period of a foreign passport.

A residence permit for stateless persons is issued for a period of 5 years, and upon reaching 60 years of age - indefinitely. The validity of a residence permit can be extended up to 5 times, after which it can be exchanged.

Renewal of residence permit

You can renew the document up to five times, after which you need to return it and get a new one. In addition, the residence permit is subject to re-issuance if inaccuracies are discovered when filling it out, the blank pages for special notes run out, the last name, first name, patronymic or citizenship of the owner changes, or the document becomes unusable.

In all of the above cases, you should contact the police department at your place of residence no later than 10 days before the expiration of the residence permit.

What does obtaining a residence permit give to citizens of Uzbekistan?

Citizens of Uzbekistan can apply for a residence permit one year after receiving a temporary residence permit. Guardians must take care of an official document confirming the establishment of guardianship over the child.

Translations are certified by an apostille

All documentation is submitted to the immigration authority in Uzbek. Translations must have an apostille. The applicant will not need knowledge of the Uzbek language if he is requesting a temporary residence permit.
