What visa do you need for Norway?

To travel to any city in the country, you must obtain a Schengen visa of the category that corresponds to the purposes of your visit to Norway. Russians can open the following types of visa permits:

Tourist or guest. It is issued for business and tourist trips, short-term studies, and for visiting relatives. It allows foreigners to live in the country for 90 days every six months.
National. Long-term visa from one year, it can be extended. It is requested by people who want to study, work in the country, take part in cultural exchange programs or those who wish to reunite with family.
Pomeranian. Tourist type of visa for Pomors who live in settlements of the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions.

The Pomeranian visa has several features in obtaining:

Only Pomors are requested.
Issued for a long period - first for 1 year, then for two years or even for five years. But this is only possible if the applicants have not violated any laws in Norway.
There is no need to provide an invitation from the host party.
A Pomeranian visa does not give the right to work, even if it is issued for a long period. For violation of this condition, residents of the Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions may be deported and fined.

Current visa in an inactive foreign country

There is a situation when a visa stamp is still valid even if the passport is no longer valid. In such situations, there are two solutions:

You can transfer your visa, maintaining its validity, to a new passport. To do this, you need to contact the diplomatic mission to review your situation.
Entry with two passports; the old passport will need to be presented at the same time as the new one.

How much does a Norwegian visa cost for Russians - price at the consulate and visa center

The standard price for a Norwegian visa is 35 euros. If you need to apply for an urgent Schengen visa, then applicants will have to pay 70 euros.

The visa fee must be paid after the applicant fills out the application form electronically. Payment is made using Visa or MasterCard bank cards. Even those who, according to migration legislation, have the right to receive a visa for free must pay the consular fee.

After the visa is received and the applicants travel to Norway, the consular fee is returned to them. To do this, citizens of the Russian Federation need to contact the Norwegian Embassy in Moscow.

The following categories of applicants are exempt from paying the visa fee:

Family members of Russians who permanently reside in Norway.
People with disabilities and persons accompanying them.

Schengen visa to Norway on your own in 2021 - step-by-step instructions

There is no need to turn to intermediaries for help in obtaining a Norwegian visa. Their help will only be needed by applicants who do not know English, since the visa application form must be filled out only in English or Norwegian.

Passport requirements

A foreign passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation must be issued no later than 10 years ago, and be valid for three or more months after the foreigner returns to Russia.

How long does a Norwegian visa last?

Due to changes in the EU visa code that came into force on 02/02/2020, all Schengen countries, including Norway, will issue only single-entry visas to applicants with clean passports.

Applicants who have used three single-entry visas without violations over the previous 2 years will be able to obtain an annual Schengen visa. After “rolling back” the one-year visa (of course, without violations), you can get a 2-year visa. Well, after that there will be Schengen for 5 years.

Pomors who live in the Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions can immediately obtain multiple-entry visas. First, they are given annual visas, and then multiple-entry visas with a long period of use.

Visa validity periods

Single entry visas

Such visas are issued for the dates of travel or with a corridor of 30 days. With this visa you can only enter Schengen once, even if you have unused days on your visa. Usually, with a single-entry visa, you can only enter the country to which the visa was issued.

Multiple entry visas (or multivisas)

Multiple entry visas are:

on travel dates,
for 15 days of stay, with a 30-day corridor
for 30 days of stay, with a 90-day corridor
for 45 days of stay, with a 90-day corridor
for 90 days of stay, with a 180-day corridor
for 90 days of stay with a corridor of 360 days - these are visas from 1 year to 5 years. Accordingly, with these visas you can stay in Schengen countries for no more than 90 days per six months.
