What visa is needed for Montenegro? Types of Montenegrin visas

The state issues 4 visas that comply with the laws of the country:

Transit visas A and B

Used during transit visits to the state.

A category A visa is issued when making a transit flight through an airport of the country. The type of document does not allow you to stay on the territory of the state with the exception of the airport.

The second option is suitable for a transit trip if traveling from the Balkan countries. The document allows you to stay in Montenegro for 5 days.

Transit visas are not issued to citizens of the Russian Federation, since they are meaningless, because Russians and Montenegro have a visa-free regime when staying in the country for no more than 30 days. But at the same time, citizens of the Russian Federation are given 2 types of entry permits: for long-term stay and short-term vacation.

Tourist visa C

A visa of this category is needed for travelers who wish to stay in the country for more than 30 days.

A tourist visa allows you to stay in Montenegro from 31 to 90 days.

The document is received for 1 year without the right to continue. If an extension is needed, a new permit is simply issued. Using a standard Montenegrin visa does not allow you to visit countries that are in the Schengen zone.

Long-term D visa

Needed by those who intend to visit Montenegro for specific purposes. For example, to conduct work activities, for the purposes of:

  • treatment,
  • study,
  • restoring relationships with family,

But now you won’t have to obtain such a document, since a month’s stay is available free of charge. But for citizens of other countries a transit visa remains necessary. There are two types of it: for 1 day without the right to leave the airport, or for 5 days of stay in the country with the condition of crossing the border according to the route.
  • Tourist is the main one, which is needed today for those Russians who want to stay longer than 30 days on the coast. In this case, documents are filled out, an application is submitted and there is a chance to receive permission for 90 days of stay in the country. True, such a visa is valid for a whole year, but the total amount of time should not exceed three months. Then you will have to apply for a second permit.
  • Long-term – needed for those who wish to undergo long-term treatment within Montenegro, in cases of admission to a university, with an employment agreement and a work visa, etc. Any purpose of staying in the country for longer than 3 months must be documented. What to do if the trip is more than 30 days

A visa to Montenegro for Russians planning a vacation in 2021 is needed if they want to stay in the country for more than a month. However, the one-month visa-free period can be extended . To do this, it is enough to carry out a visa-run. A trip from Montenegro to Croatia on an excursion without a visa in 2021 is a good visa-run option. Placing a new entry stamp when crossing the Croatian-Montenegrin border gives an additional thirty-day period of stay.

For those who do not want to apply for a visa for a stay of more than a month, you need to obtain a visa.

Important! The end of the period of visa-free stay, however, as with the visa regime, is the date of departure from the country or departure of the plane. You should be especially careful when you have a night flight. Time after 00:00 is considered the next day.
