The self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia is a state not recognized by anyone in the world, with the exception of Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Nauru and Syria. At first it was recognized by Vanuatu and Tuvalu, but then they did not receive the promised money from the Russian Federation and refused. Republican legislation is still in force here, obliging Russians to obtain Abkhaz citizenship for long-term residence in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

Before the war, Abkhazia had good resorts by Soviet standards, and several fairly large industrial enterprises operated. - The applicant called on other citizens of the Republic of Armenia to violate the existing structural system and overthrow the legitimate government. He himself could have lived at that time far beyond the borders of the republic, but through his actions he supported or stimulated the activities of anti-government organizations.
- He was a member of or provided assistance to terrorist organizations whose goal was to overthrow the existing regime.

If a citizen of the Russian Federation has doubts, then it is better for him not to enter the territory of the republic, despite the complete dependence on the Russian Federation, local authorities can resolve minor political issues at their own discretion.

“Citizens of one Contracting Party may have the citizenship of another Contracting Party under the conditions and in the manner established by the legislation of the Contracting Party whose citizenship is acquired. In order to resolve issues of dual citizenship, the Contracting Parties will conclude a separate agreement,” says the identical texts of the agreements on cooperation between Russia and Abkhazia and South Ossetia signed today.

Why do you need a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia?
The document is required to enter the territory of the Russian Federation, Nicaragua, Syria, Venezuela or Nauru. This applies to the possibility of traveling outside the Republic of Abkhazia. Entry into other countries of the world with an RA passport is completely prohibited; they do not recognize it as a document - information for potential travelers.

But it is required for permanent residence in the republic. All civil registration records are made on the basis of the passport; it allows one to take part in voting during elections of various local government bodies and state leaders. The current legal framework for obtaining a passport
